10/22/2021 0 Comments Maple Class Baking: Báirín BreacThis week, the Maple Class were learning about traditions and histories associated with Halloween. We learned that Halloween is part of Irish history as it originated here many centuries ago. We talked about differences between celebrations in the past and in the present.
As part of our learning, we baked a barm brack together, known in Irish as 'báírín breac.' It is a dense fruit cake made with various dried fruits soaked in tea with a ring or coin hidden inside that will bring good luck to whoever gets the special slice!
